It seems wrong when we say that it’s almost the end of the financial year – where did that last six months go?!

So much has happened in the first half of the year that it has flown by and we find ourselves wishing for a moment to stop and catch our breaths.

Firstly, many of you will know for having read the email we sent out last month that Annie O’Donnell left us at the end of March this year to pursue a similar position in an Accounting Firm closer to her home. We wish her well and the very best in her new position.

With Annie stepping out, it left open a position that was gladly taken up by Connie Spehar, who comes to the team with many years experience in using CAS and a desire to learn as much as she can about the work that we do here at NCS. We welcome Connie as a valued member of our team.

There was plenty of learning to be had as well, as this quarter has been an exciting one! Changes to governmental departments, new systems set up and in testing and old ones shut down or given over to an external body, it’s all happening!

In this issue we bring to you news about a whole heap of changes being made at ASIC including the appointment of a new chairman, we again shine a spotlight on the intricacies of running a self-managed or DIY superannuation fund and the penalties that could be imposed if you breach the law.

We reveal that we’ve been invited to take part in the beta testing of a new system being implemented next year by the State Revenue Office of Victoria and talk about how insolvencies reached an all new high in February.

We discuss the importance of checking and re-checking documentation when attempting to register a foreign company here in Australia and also provide some tips on how to ensure you get your orders turned around as swiftly as possible.

Our feature article is about “Pre-nups for Business” by Irongroup Lawyers – a must read for anybody going into business with a partner or partners, especially when family is involved in some way!

We also let you know the order deadlines for the end of financial year period – make sure you look at these dates to make sure you don’t run the risk of not getting your orders processed before June 30!

Catch you next time,
